If you posted a homework problem, and you don't see it any more, it might have been deleted by one of the mentors. The mentors routinely delete homework or homework-like problems where you haven't shown any effort at solving the problem. If your post is deleted for this reason, the mentor will also send you a warning notification which explains why your post was deleted.

You can see these notifications by clicking the Envelope personal message icon at the top of any page here. If you've received new notifications that you haven't read yet, there should be a little red badge "stuck" on the Envelope icon, showing the number of new notifications. The forum software calls them "Conversations."

Mentors also delete homework (or homework-like) problems that are posted in forum sections other than the Homework & Coursework section, or for other rules violations. To see our general rules, click the INFO link at the top of any page here, and choose "Terms and Rules." Or you can click this link:

Scroll down to the section "Homework Guidelines."

Also note the "Guidelines for Students and Helpers" which is posted near the top of each of the homework forums, for example:

Dear student,

Thank you for your forum post. As a scientist and mentor on this forum, I would like to clarify the reasons for deleting homework or homework-like problems. Our main goal is to help students learn and understand the concepts, rather than just giving them the answers. Therefore, we encourage students to show their efforts and work towards solving the problem on their own.

If we delete a post, it is most likely because the student has not shown any effort in solving the problem. We understand that sometimes students may struggle with certain concepts, and that is perfectly normal. However, we ask that you at least show your attempt at solving the problem, so we can guide you in the right direction. This will not only help you learn, but also prevent future problems from being deleted.

We also delete posts that violate our forum rules, such as posting homework or homework-like problems in the wrong section. We have specific sections for homework and coursework, and we ask that you post in the appropriate section to ensure that you receive the best possible help.

To see any notifications or warnings that you may have received, simply click on the Envelope personal message icon at the top of any page. If you have any unread notifications, there will be a red badge on the icon. You can also find our general rules and guidelines by clicking on the INFO link at the top of any page, or by clicking on the link provided in the forum post.

We hope this clarifies our reasons for deleting posts and encourages you to show your effort in solving the problems. We are here to help and guide you in your learning journey, and we appreciate your cooperation in following our guidelines.
