I'm currently pursuing B.Sc degree with major applied math and minor physics. Do you guys think is it worth to switch to comp sci as my minor in terms of employability?
Applied math with physics focuses on using mathematical concepts and techniques to solve problems in the field of physics, while applied math with computer science applies mathematical principles to solve problems in computer science and technology.
Graduates with a degree in applied math with physics can pursue careers in fields such as astrophysics, materials science, and engineering. Those with a degree in applied math with computer science can pursue careers in software engineering, data analysis, and artificial intelligence.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, as well as a solid foundation in mathematics and physics, are important for success in both programs. Additionally, computer programming skills are essential for applied math with computer science.
Some universities offer joint or dual degree programs that allow students to major in both fields simultaneously. However, it may require a longer time commitment and a heavier course load.
Taking advanced math and physics courses in high school can help prepare you for these degree programs. Additionally, gaining experience in computer programming through coding clubs or internships can be beneficial for those interested in applied math with computer science.
