CHESTER — A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit the east shore of Lake Almanor on Thursday and its impact was felt in Butte County and beyond.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported on its earthquake site that the earthquake was -1.5 km deep and shook at 4:19 p.m. The epicenter was located about 2 km south-southwest of East Shore on the lake.
